The Albanian government partially withdrew from the VAT for small businesses. Finance Minister, Arben Ahmetaj, says that businesses with a 2 million All turnover will not be included in the VAT scheme.

“This means that ambulatory salesmen, municipality food markets, artisans, will be left out of the VAT scheme. We are going to include only 9000 businesses from 70.000 in total. 61.000 will still be left out”, Ahmetaj declared.

The government published the property tax details. Families with apartments valued 100.000 EUR will have to pay 50 EUR of property tax a year.

Property tax for families will be 0.05% of the total value. It will be applied on buildings at first, later also on agricultural lands. For business buildings, it will be three times higher than for families. This, according to the Minister of Finances, means that businesses will pay less than before, with the tax that was calculated at 400 ALL per square meter. However, only hotels listed by UN as brand names will be benefiting from this tax.
