Government: We will not allow CEZ to cut energy

One day after CEZ announced that they will cut power supply for
aqueducts that have not paid the energy, the government has reacted. The
Minister of Economy, Edmond Haxhinasto, declared for Top Channel that
this cannot be allowed.

“This will not be allowed, because the obligations are such that this cannot happen. Power supply will not be interrupted for aqueducts, because this would cause great consequences to the citizens. The government will take the necessary measures”, Haxhinasto declared.

Mr. Haxhinasto says that the government depending agencies and the Energy Regulation Entity are taking all necessary measures for not allowing power cuts to aqueducts.

“All institutions, starting from ERE and the Ministry of Economy, are taking the necessary steps for not allowing any cost for the aqueducts”, Haxhinasto declared.

The Minister of Economy confirmed that CEZ and the Government have made intense negotiations one day ago, with both parties presenting their claims.

“Most importantly, the citizens, the businesses and the public entities must continue receiving power supply, so that we will not have such a vacuum for the citizens and the economy. There are several variants and scenarios for the negotiation process, which will help regulating a relation that is already known as problematic”, Haxhinasto declared.

CEZ Distribution says that the aqueducts have a total obligation of 38 million EUR which they don’t want to pay even after the concessions CEZ claims to have allowed.
