The Kosovo opposition asked the government to use its authority for
stopping the Serbian local elections to be held in Kosovo’s territory,
as the Serbian officials are warning.

For LDK, these elections would be an aggression against Kosovo’s territory, while the Self-Determination Movement asked the government to send police and arrest the organizers. The AAK says that the international community should pressure Serbia.

Arben Gashi, a Parliament Member from the LDK: It is a constitutional and legal duty to expand our autority in the entire territory. This is considered an aggression within the territory.

The Self-Determination Movement: The elections can be stopped through the police, by blocking the building where the elections will be held and by arresting the organizers.

Ahmet Iusufi, vice leader of AAK-së: The local institutions and authorities, in coordination with the international ones, should stop these elections.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, which is a majority in Parliament, declared that Serbia has no right to hold elections in Kosovo, especially after the recent agreement for Kosovo to be presented with a footnote that mentions the Resolution 1244 of Kosovo and the UN.

“The recent declaration of the USA expressed their stance against the elections, and they have considered them as a violation of our territorial integrity”, declared Adem Grabovci, head of the PDK Parliamentary Group.

The US and the EU are against the idea of holding Serbian local elections, while the government officials have asked the international partners to pressure Serbia for not taking this step.
