Government repeals hiring limitations

The government has repealed a decision that stopped new hires in the
state administration and that had frozen the vacant positions in the
main public institutions, according to Shqip newspaper.

The decision was taken on July 2011, as a preventive measure for cutting budget expenses and keeping the budget deficit under control.

The decision also blocked overtime payment, holidays spent at work, other bonuses during the year and new hires in vacant positions. The government softened this decision through the time, after seeing that it was creating problems, especially at the Interior Ministry.

The government initially repealed the decision for the police forces, and lately for the administration. Thousands of vacant positions in the state administration, which has employed 106.000 Albanians, will be filled after the decision was repealed.

The government’s financial status seems improved in the last months, after the expense limitations. The financial difficulties showed signs in the lack of medicine in public hospitals and lack of maintenance in public environments.
