Government: Peruvian brought by Fier Mayor

The Socialist MP says that Manuel Augusto Blacker Miller’s business is related with the construction of a waste management implant in Fier, presented to Berisha’s government through the Ministry of Environment and the Fier Municipality.

Brace explained that the implant has a very powerful capacity and it will be supplied by imported wastes, but its construction was impeded by Socialist councillors at the Fier Municipality and Socialist MPs in the district.

After Brace’s declarations, the Prime Minister’s adviser, Suzana Guxholli, declared that the media controlled by Edi Rama and other persons paid by him for defamatory accusations are lying to the public opinion regarding the arrest of Manuel Augusto Blacker Miller, former Foreign Minister of Peru, wanted by Interpol.

She explained that the company in question has been persistently recommended by the Socialist Mayor of Fier, Baftjar Zeqo, who has sent several letters and SMS messages to the Prime Minister.

“Mr.Zeqo emphasizes in his letters and SMS messages that his two-year cooperation with this company had been very successful. After the request sent to the Prime Minister by Mr. Zeqo and representatives of this company, they had a meeting with the Prime Minister’s adviser for economic matters, Suzana Guxholli, a rule that is unchanged for all requests coming from local authorities and businesses, which are then directed to the respective institutions”, the Prime Minister’s reaction says.

After Mrs.Guxholli’s response, MP Erion Brace wrote on Facebook that Berisha’s administration has guaranteed the security of Miller’s businesses and his registration without any obstacle, regardless the fact that there was an international arrest order against him.

“Two ministries of your government, the Ministries of Environment and Construction, have approved his project and you have personally changed the law in favour of his business, allowing him to launder dirty money from the regime he was part of. Hence, your responsibility is very large”, Brace accused.

“I want to clearly state that you cannot give me any complexes by mentioning that the Mayor of Fier is Socialist. We are not like your party, Mr.Prime Minister. We do not cover or support unprincipled actions of anyone. The responsibility is individual and everyone must be held accountable”, Brace declared on his Facebook profile.

Explanation from the Fier Municipality

The Fier Municipality explains that the “Apolonia Investments” Company, led by Manuel Augusto Blacker Miller and registered in Albania, appeared three months ago at the Fier Municipality with a document from the National Centre of Registrations about a project that would build a waste management implant in their city.

This project was presented to the executive government and the Municipal Council, and while negotiations were still undergoing, the Fier Municipality recommended the company in question to take a permit from the Albanian government, as the law requires.

“The project was sent to the Fier Municipality, the respective ministries and to the Prime Minister’s office. The Fier Municipality, being a local unit with full transparency to the citizens and constantly looking for serious investments, has welcomed all companies that show interest to invest in the city”, states the Fier Municipality press release.
