Government launches program of Albanian language teachers for immigrants in the diaspora

The 50 Albanian language teachers for the children of Albanians in Greece will not be the only ones, an official of the Ministry of Education said today on the new initiative aiming to preserve the native language and culture in the countries the Albanians have emigrated.

Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have prepared a joint guide where they define the procedure for selecting teachers and monitoring teaching in the diaspora.

In this process, it is said that the embassies of the respective countries will play an important role, with the supervision of requests on their official websites, but above all also to conclude individual contracts with educators in the diaspora. The call for their employment will be annual and will be opened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.

While the Ministry of Education will create the state register of teachers of the Albanian language and Albanian culture in the diaspora, where the criterion for the inclusion of teachers will be a diploma in the field of teaching in at least one of these branches: Albanian language and literature, preschool education, primary education, history, geography, ethnology, music or arts of Albanian culture.

The lesson will be developed according to the curriculum of the “supplementary learning of the Albanian language” approved by the Ministry of Education of Albania and Kosovo.

For the salaries of the staff in the diaspora, the reference is expected to be the salary of the administrative employee of the embassy as well as the basis of the number of monthly teaching hours, the officials added. The program will be under observation and will be evaluated by online questionnaires for students and parents on the quality of learning and teaching in the diaspora.
