Government halves university tuition fees, promises that students’ requests are being met

The Albanian government passed the “Package for University”, which, according to Prime Minister Edi Rama, meets the demands of students and also focuses on newer ones.
“The university fee will be 50% this year. Starting from the next year it will be 50% for those with the average grade above 6”, Rama said.
The excellence students and vulnerable groups will benefit 10.000 ALL of the monthly payment for their scholarship.
As for the dormitories, the Prime Minister said that they will be rebuilt, all of them, within this mandate.
In order to make students’ voice be heard, they will plan a new statute, which will be done by a specific workgroup.
To increase transparency, the government will start a website with the spending, revenues and CV of professors.
Rama confirmed that the package will not demand a change of Budget 2019.
