Government decision for public beaches

On the verge of the new tourist season, the government has taken
measures for increasing public beaches that will be shared
proportionally with private ones, at 20 and 80%.

“This is a change that we are bringing so that citizens will not be forced to pay on every beach, and so that private beaches do not occupy all spaces. We need an alternation at 20%, 2.5 meters from the sea, so that there is room for all citizens”, declared the Minister of Urban Development and Tourism, Eglantina Gjermeni.

The Minister says that the decision was sent to all local units, followed by agreements that these units should sign with private subjects.

“The local units have the biggest responsibility to implement and realize this decision and the other measures on the verge of the tourist season. We will monitor the process and there will be sanctions and fines”, Gjermeni declared.

Citizens complain every year that beaches are occupied by private operators and there is no public space to stay with their own equipment. Other measures foreseen by the Council of Ministers is increasing hygienic conditions, green areas and medical aid.
