Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future 10 pupils study in a small school situated in the lower part of the
Koder village, Gjirokaster. The reconstructed building seems more like a
bunker, while children from 6 to 10 years old have to pass through the
muddy roads each day.
The school not only does not fulfill any standard, but it is also gets flooded by mud after each rain. Lessons are interrupted for innumerous times during the year.
Kastriot Kzaa, the director of the supervising school, at the Cepo Commune, from which this small school is depended, says that the environment where the school has been built is completely inadequate. It is frequently flooded, regardless the interventions.
The Regional Education Directory in Gjirokaster has closed many schools in this commune due to the lack of pupils, but never have they closed any school due to the difficult conditions.
