The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Gjirokaster
Municipality, have planned a series of activities that celebrate the
80th anniversary of Albania’s best known writer, Ismail Kadare.
The center of the celebrations remains his birthplace, Gjirokaster, which started celebrations with readings and a special giant cake, on which there is an quote of Kadare: “It is always the time for men to do something about their people”.
Present in this meetings was the OSCE ambassador in Tirana, Robert Wilton, who recited verses from the poem “Kristal”, which he himself had translated in English.
