The necropolis of Adrianapolis, situated in the upper part of the
national road, near the Sofratike village, Gjirokaster District, has
been damaged by the new constructions made in the area.

The archeological studies of this site are important for understanding the extension of the city that was built by Emperor Adrian in the II Century B.C. Archeologists have dug out a series of ancient tombs, covered by monumental stone slabs. This territory has never been included in any tourist map.

Dropull Commune says that there has been a growing interest for the archeological wealth of the area, but there are still big infrastructural problems, such as the securing of the site with surrounding walls and road signs.
