Gjirokaster, 350 museum weapons in humidity

03/03/2012 00:00

The National Museum of Weapons in Gjirokaster is suffering a critic
situation of the interior infrastructure. The humidity has touched all
pavilions where there are exposed weapons since the Sonte Age and until
the Second World War.

In the museum there are 300 paintings and other artworks of well-known authors. The director of the Museum, Teuta Kallajxhi, who has been working for 40 years in this institution, says that the incalculable value of the national wealth is each day more under the threat of humidity, in a premise that doesn’t fulfill the minimal standards for becoming a Museum.

The Museum of Weapons has received two partial investments for the isolation of the terrace in 2002 and 2006, and a complete investment in 2010, which have only deteriorated the situation. The humidity is in a higher level than before the investment.
