Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The leader of the Social-Democratic Party, Skender Gjinushi, listed some failures for of Prime Minister Sali Berisha for 2012.
“Albania closed a historical year, that of the 100th year of independence. But unfortunately, this was the year of an economic crisis, the year when the government failed to receive the EU candidate status, the year of spectacular failures in major privatizations, such as oil and electricity. The year when corruption was made legal and turned into a quality for politicians; the year when all independent institutions went under government control”, Gjinushi declared.
His comment for the rejected candidate status continued even further. “The refusal of the candidate status for three consequent years happened because the people’s vote was stolen, because corruption broke records, because the Parliament degraded, because the public TV and public administration was misused by the government, and the only responsible for this failure is the current government. This shows that the path of Albania towards Europe has been blocked by the corrupted people”, Gjinushi declared.
Gjinushi wished a better 2013 for the people, and without a corrupted government such as the DP-SMI coalition. “2013 will be the year of great victories, the year of war against corruption. This year identified the modern left wing, which has had bright figures such as Fan Noli and Luigj Gurakuqi, and the right wing that has figures such as Berisha and Ahmet Zogu”, Gjinushi declared.
