The main political parties have agreed to form a Political Council for the electoral reform, which will be attended by the Parliamentary opposition as well.
After the first meeting, Damian Gjiknuri, form the Socialist Party, said that there is an agreement between the political parties and that they will try to work with consensus, through the assistance of the OSCE.
“The majority is ready to listen to the recommendations of the opposition”, Gjiknuri underlined.
Rudina Hajdari, the representative of the Parliamentary Opposition, declared that the presence of the DP and SMI in this reform proves once again that the right way is the institutional way.
“The Parliamentary Opposition will continue its work to change the electoral system. The DP and SMI just admitted that the solution can come through ideas and plans, not protests”, Hajdari said.
The parties have agreed to receive assistance from the OSCE for their divergences.
The agreement also provides that the majority should not make any amends through the Parliamentary Commission for the Electoral Reform, or during the voting of the reform that will come out of this “Political Council”.
