Gjika: President must lead celebrations

“There’s only one November 28th that belongs to Vlore and Berisha is shading the role of this city by allocating only 39 million ALL from the 5 million EUR fund”, Gjika declared.

“His mission and desire will not be realized. The preparations will be ready within 10-15 November. Whoever from the government that will come on 27 November in Vlore, will have to pay for his own food, because the official dinner will be held on November 28th and all ceremonies will be held on that day. The Albanian Prime Minister cannot give orders about the State Protocol, when it is up to the President and the Prime Minister is just invited. I appeal the President to stand up to his duty, himself and Albania, and arise his voice on behalf of our country”, Gjika declared.

The opposition leader, Edi Rama, declared that this is a moment when the government lacks of a vision and a plan to celebrate this jubilee.

“Those few celebrations that we have heard about son far are like pieces of clothes ripped from the past communist celebrations. We have the opportunity to change this stale tableau and start beautiful initiatives, simple and without impossible expenses, like our exhibition in Brussels. Today I want to announce a special initiative that we will hold with the young Albanians wherever they live. We will invite those who have a dream for the Albania of tomorrow to gather 100 of their most significant dreams, and invite 100 young men and women who will share these dreams with us”, Rama declared.

Rama mentioned what he considered an open conflict with our neighbours, the maritime border agreement with Greece, for which he launched an appeal to the Prime Minister.

“This is a good day to appeal the Prime Minister to respect our history and Constitution and do everything possible to renegotiate this agreemen and close this potential source of conflicts”, Berisha declared.
