On the verge of the 100th anniversary of independence, the Albanian
capital is covered of red and black colours, national flags and 100th
anniversary logos that can bee seen in every road and in most of the
buildings, including apartment building balconies.

This festive panorama has also spurred debates, sometimes even for the exaggeration. What you cannot avoid in the Skenderbej Square, is the giant flag realized for this 100th anniversary. The flag covers the front view of Hotel Tirana.

“The fact that Hotel Tirana is on the main square, and because it is the biggest conference centre in Albania, we decided that the best way would be to cover the entire front view with the Albanian flag”, declared Brunilda Londo, manager of Hotel Tirana.

The giant flag has a 1500 square meter surface. It’s 38 meters long and 35 meters wide. The flag will stay exposed throughout November.
