Germany is the first NATO country that expressed its readiness for
sending more troops in Kosovo, after KFOR made an appeal that was
conditioned by the tense situation in Northern Kosovo.
The German Army web page says that Germany will contribute with a contingent of 550 soldiers, while Austria with 150 more.
The 700 German and Austrian soldiers will be the first battalion that will join KFOR troops for handling the tense situation in Northern Kosovo, after the protests of radical Serbians who oppose the installation of Customs checkpoints in the border with Serbia.
