The German representatives were not present in the inauguration of the project made by the German KFW in Albania.
The Federal Republic of Germany is the main supporter of the multimillion Euro project, but they were not represented in the inaugurating activity.
When asked by Deutsche Welle, the German Ambassador to Tirana, Carola Meuller-Holtkemper explained that the European Union representatives have agreed to be neutral during the electoral campaign and not keep the side of any party.
“Besides this, the inauguration ceremony was decided two days ago very spontaneously and without our knowledge. The notification arrived at the Embassy indirectly, only a few hours before”, Holtkemper declared.
“In principle, we expect to be informed on the right time about similar decisions, because after all, this is a partnership project realized by the support of the German government, through a soft loan of more than 49 million EUR, and the availability of international experts”, the German Ambassador declared.
Since 21 October 1988, Albania has received more than 1 billion EUR through the contribution of Germany in a technical-financial cooperation.
