Manuel Sarrazin, member of the Parliamentary Commission for European
Matters at the Bundestag, after a two-day visit in Tirana, declared for
Top Channel that together with his colleagues they have asked the
opposition and the majority to leave the political fights when regards
the integration process.

“We are here as a delegation for all parties. Our joint message is that we want to progress with you in the European integration path, but you must tell us that you have a unified agenda as regards integration. We are aware that for the majority and the opposition this is not something easy. But when it comes for integration, it should not turn into a battle. I think that the majority must respect the rights of the minority, and the minority should not stay hand in hand for integration. We told this to all parties and they agreed with us”, Sarrazin declared.

When asked about the evaluation of the German delegation for the integration process of Albania, he answered: “The representatives of the German parliament often visit the EU candidate countries for having an image of their situation. This happens because we vote in Parliament for the enlargement and we need to tell the German people why we are committed on this process. I can say that Albania has made progress during the past years. The government and the opposition are committed in fulfilling the five criteira, but there is not enough success. We want the reform process to advance through a clear structure of reforms, especially in the judiciary reform and the fight against corruption and organized crime. We have a complex panorama and we see that things are moving, but we need an implementation of these reforms”.
