Gerdec at the Supreme Court

The Prosecution appealed at the Supreme Court the decision of the Court
of Appeal about the Gerdec case, announced one month earlier.

The Prosecution stands to the murder charge for four of the defendants, and to consider guilty those who where acquitted by the First Instance Court and the Court of Appeal.

It is still unknown who are the Penal Code judges who will review one of the most controversial cases since March 15th 2008. The Court of Appeal ruled on the 29 defendants of the Gerdec tragedy, which caused the death of 26 people and more than 300 were injured.

The Court found not guilty nine of the defendants and reduced the sentence for Mihal Delijorgji, Ylli Pinari, Dritan Minxolli and the Albdemil Company.

Luan Hoxha, former Chief of the General Staff for power abuse, and decided to return to prison other military. However, Delijorgji, Pinari, Sokol Ngjeci and Dritan Minxolli turned themselves in, while seven other defendants are wanted by the Albanian Police.
