Gas ways to Albania, frozen

The Albanian gas importers have found difficulties in the last week to
secure their goods, since some of the ships are unable to sail, because
of the bad weather.

“Our transport vehicles have been blocked in the Azov Sea, between Russia and Ukraine, because the sea has frozen, even in some parts of the Black Sea. This problem has been going on for three days, and we will need at least one week until the situation will be unblocked”, declared some importers for “Shqip” newspaper.

According to them, this occurrence has affected even other countries that have increased their demand for gas, while Russia and Ukraine have lowered the offer.

The stalemate created by the bad weather has destroyed the normal transportation line, and the citizens are seeking gas where they can, without asking for the price.

“By the beginning of January, the cost of 1 ton gas was 900 USD, and today it is 1100 USD. The tendencies seem to continue, since Europe has increased the demand to 30%, while the exporting countries have been unable to respond. The stock exchange rates are changing against our favors, causing the USD to increase, and oil is expected to become more expensive. All these elements can only bring an increase of the gas price”, the merchants say.

In these conditions, one 10 kg gas cylinder will soon cost 1700 ALL, from 1500 that it currently is. But this is only one negative effect, because the market could feel the lack of gas due to the limited quantities. This situation could continue for three or four months.
