Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future This winter has increased even more the poverty in the Bulqize area. The
house of Ferit Doga, at the Fushe-Bulqize commune, was destroyed by the
heavy snow and the invalid owner is unable to repair it.
His children are on their own for everything, because their mother is sick, and their father is unable to work. The 7 and 8 year old children are obliged to cross over a big obstacle created by the destruction, in order to enter their house. The elder daughter tells about the night when a part of the house crumbled and she and her brother were in panic.
This family has survived this winter with the Bulqize Commune aids and the support of other family members, who are still poor.
More than 48 families in Fushe-Bulqize have had emergent needs for food during the isolation created by the snow, which has not left these areas yet.
