Fullani appeals banks

The Albanian Bank Governor, Ardian Fullani, appealed the banks to change
their policy towards business and individuals in order to overcome the
difficult economic situation.
“The banking system still has good capital and liquidity, and they are able to respond to the demands for loans. But they must be more visionary and flexible when financially supporting the business”, Fullani declared.
The Bank Governor added that the pace of loan for economy have fallen mainly due to the low demand from the private sector. He underlined that the banks have also paid their role by tightening their policies.
“The banking system is still careful in choosing the projects they finance, as result of the lowered quality of the loan portfolio, and the difficulties of the future. The banks are very selective in choosing the business projects”, Fullani declared.
After the monthly meeting with the Supervisory Council, Fullani declared that the economic environment will remain difficult. According to him, the central bank will still keep a low basic norm for supporting the economy, since the inflation dangers are also low.
