Albanian Bank Governor appealed the government to support agriculture in order to protect citizens from price increases.
“The Albanian Bank estimates that incentive policies for the domestic product, which reduce the Albanian economy’s exposure to external hits, are indispensable”, Fullani declared.
The Governor explained the reasons why the citizens will face price increase in the market and warned that the inflation will remain high even in the next months to come.
”During the first trimester of 2011, the inflation left as consequence price increases for some basic food products, oil and medical drugs. In the future, the inflationary pressures along the implementation time of this monetary policy will remain high, but their intensity will be reduced in the next trimester”, Fullani underlined.
Bank of Albania decided to keep unchanged the basic norm of interest at the rate of 5.25%.
