The international organization “Freedom House” has listed Albania and
Kosovo among the partially free countries for the media freedom.
According to the report published this Thursday, Kosovo is listed 98th, while in the last year it was listed 102nd. Albania is listed 98th this year, different from one year ago, when it was listed 96th. The results are the same for both countries, same as one year ago, according to the Voice of America.
Both have 49 points in the “Freedom House” evaluation, were 0 is positive and 100 is thje lowest point. Serbia is ranked 74th, Montenegro 78th, Croatia 83rd, Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia are ranked 103rd and 122nd. Freedom House says that the media freedom has marked the biggest drop for the past decade. Only one in seven people lives in a country with a free media.
The drop has been encouraged partially by the developments in some Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt, Libya and Jordan, together with the problems in Turkey, Ukraine and some Eastern African countries, and the deterioration in the relatively open environment in the United States of America.
