Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Prosecution Task Force unit sent to court another fuel related scandal.
Two army employees, Dali Koka, fuel storekeeper, and accountant Engjellushe Demce, at the Brari Military Department, are under prosecution for fraud with the fuel quality and quantity that they bought for the army.
According to Prosecutor Fadil Palushi, the Ministry of Defense was the one to report this fraud, after an inspection held in the Logistics Brigade and the Supply Battalion.
The defendants are accused of power abuse and falsification of official documents. During the investigations, the prosecution has also found that there have been false inventories for hiding the theft.
The investigators discovered that the fuel storages in Brari have no calibration signs or measuring equipments. The damage to the state mounts to 6.5 million ALL.
The investigations have also noticed fraud with the quality of the fuels. According to the Prosecution, the “Euroil” Company, protagonist of the big Vergine Oil scandal, have handed over the fuel on October 2009 by giving the lab tests together with the fuel originating from the Russian Federation.
But the military base has not made the lab tests for the quality of the fuel, and by taking 247.000 tons of it they have caused a damage of 12.35 million ALL. The Prosecutor says that many military vehicles have been damaged by this bad fuel, together with the environment.
Prosecutor Fadil Palushi has also attached a relation to the file, which explains that for this scandal have been fired Colonel Selim Spahiu, former Commander of the Logistics Brigade, lieutenant-colonel Behar Laci, commander of the Supply Battalion, Arben Zeneli, chief of the Fuel Reception Sector, Ema Kusi and Lavdie Qana, for not making the lab tests of the fuel.
