Six former prison directors and five former chiefs of the legal and
health sector were reported at the Prosecution by the Ministry of
Justice, after completing an inspection with the special leaves for
prisoners.
The Ministry of Justice asked the Prosecution to investigate the abuses they claim were committed for 800 prisoners in the Kosova, Peqin, Rrogozhina, Fushe Kruja, Korca and Durres prisons.
The Ministry has reported the former director of the Kosova Prison, Shkelqim Krasniqi, together with the legal and health directors, Eris Bregasi and Ardian Gjini.
For the Rrogozhina Prison, the Ministry has reported the former director Rezart Tusha and medic Alban Haxhi.
For the Peqin Prison the Ministry has reported former Director Saimir Hasalla; for Fushe Kruje, former Director Grigor Prifti and former chief of the legal department, Saimir Leka; for Korca the Ministry has reported the former Director Koco Bello; for the Durres Institution of Penal Verdict Execution, the Ministry has reported former Director Denion Shengjergji and former chief of the legal department, Dorian Oketa.
The Ministry says that 97 special leaves have been illegal only for 2013, together with 800 others in total.
55 special leaves have been given illegally in the Kosova Prison, Lushnje. Prisoners have left cells for meeting sick parents, with medical reports taken from the same ORL doctor.
41 illegal leaves have been given in Peqin and 40 in Rrogozhina, with orders given by the directors and without the legal procedures.
The Ministry states that all prisoners who have received leaves have a dangerous criminal background.
