The former politically persecuted people have started a hunger strike
and appealed all embassies and foreign diplomats to pressure the
government in order to find a solution to their requests.

Through a press release, the 20 hunger strikers threatened that if their most minimal rights will not be fulfilled, they will sacrifice themselves.

“We have supported this government and we have even spilled blood for it. We have suffered in the horrible prisons of dictatorship. We are asking them to give us the most minimal living conditions, so we can secure food to our children who often sleep without eating, and can’t pay for a phone call to ask how we are doing here. Come and see how the neo-communists in power are destroying people’s lives and our government is enjoying the money they are stealing from this people. We are not asking great villas, poker tables and saunas and pool tables, like our Ministers have. We want a roof so that our children don’t get cold when it rains, a job to live with dignity and to provide for our children, so that they do not die like in Migjen’s stories, which are actual even today. We have no envy or grudge against you. We showed to be civilized when the communist regime fell, with our behavior against your dictator fathers, and we will still be like that today. We don’t want to steal like you. We don’t want large properties and villas. We only want what the Constitution provided us, the Constitution and justice for which we sacrificed our life. None of us will come out alive from this strike if our minimal rights will not be fulfilled”, says the declaration signed by 20 hunger strikers.

Since September 22nd, 20 former politically persecuted people are staying in an open environment near the. They are demanding compensation for their prison years during the communist regime.
