Former military in protest

The beginning of this week joined the former military people in a
two-hour protest against the government decision to pass the Military
Home Building to the Democratic Party as their headquarters.

The former military gathered in front of the building, while the meeting was observerd by the police.

“They don’t want to know that here we had the military cultural assembly. This is where Vace Zela started working, and where musician Kujtim Laro produced the music of the main Albanian movies. This is the place where the relatives of the martyrs, the invalids, the veterans and military associations gather for special occasions”, declared Mikado Shakohoxha.

The former Deputy Minister of Defense, Bajram Bane, declared for Top Channel that this decision is an effort to change the history of the armed forces.

“The Army Home is a property that belongs to the military and it should not pass as headquarter of any party. This is the history of our army, the museum of our army, and we will protest not only this time, but we will not stop protesting until our goal has been reached”, declared Bajram Mane.

Former leader of the Military History Office, Professor Shahin Leka, appealed the Albanian government to correct this mistake on time.

“In the last 15 years this place has been a very strong support of the military associations. This is an immoral decision. Ignoring all these people and taking their property all of a sudden is immoral. The active army members must not accept the execution of such a decision. This government must correct this mistake by canceling this decision”, Professor Leka declared.

The former military continued their march in front of the Prime Minister’s office, where they gave the same appeal.
