Hasan Halili, former Mayor of Kukes, is on the run for power abuse. The
Court issued an arrest order but the former Mayor had disappeared.
Police arrested his collaborators: Mirdash Hoxha, former Director of the Regional Tax Directory: Lekë Deda, former Director of Finances at the Kukes Municipality; Gezim Ukperaj, former Debt Director at the Regional Tax Directory.
The northern prosecution says that these people have cooperated and created a series of fictive actions. The have registered the Municipality as as shareholder of the Kukes Football Club, for which they have paid sponsorship illegally, mounting up to 45 million ALL.
The Kukes Municipality has secured this figure by not paying the social and health insurance of many dependants. The current Mayor filed a lawsuit and said that the insurance was not paid.
The Prosecution says that the Kukes Football Club association was created in 2011 as a private company. In 2012, through a fictive decision by request of the then Mayor of Kukes, the Municipality was registered as shareholder without any legal foundation.
The team also received 45 million ALL and the investigations proved that the payments were made illegally.
