The session of the former head of the Kosovo Parliament, Jakup Krasniqi in the Hague court has ended today with the confirmation of the detention measure until the confirmation of his innocence or guilt.

Jakup Krasniqi appeared in the Hague tribunal very moved and in tears, saying that he was treated very badly on the way from the cell to the Hague prison.

Krasniqi said that a great injustice has been done to him, he is innocent and that he should not have been there but close to his family. He told he will speak more in the coming sessions.

“I have never in my life been treated by people as you treated me from the prison building to this court. I feel nevertheless very good and would never want to be under the guise of a criminal.

“I do not want to go into too much detail but I want to say that I was convicted earlier by the criminal regimes of Yugoslavia in ’81 -’82. I was convicted for reading books. They seem to have been more just there than here. A great injustice has been done, but I will overcome it. Our people have a saying, ‘man is stronger than stone’. We did not need this injustice. In other sessions I will say more. I would not feel good being part of the crimes of the Serbian genocide. All this is in Belgrade and in the supporters of its policies wherever they are. I am innocent, I should have been close to my family and not here “, said Krasniqi with tears in his eyes.

Krasniqi is charged by the Hague Tribunal with persecution, imprisonment, other inhumane acts, torture, murder, enforced disappearance of persons, arbitrary detention during the KLA war for the liberation from serbian genocide.

The former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi will appear before the Hague Tribunal today.
