Forests, Environment inspects companies

The Ministry of Environment inspected 16 companies that make business
with forests throughout the country, in order to see their work more
closely.

According to the Directory of Forests and Pastures at the Ministry, Arsen Proko, the inspections have resulted with some companies not being able to realize the duties in accordance with the Environment Ministry plan.

The local units were also subject to this initiative of the Ministry for increasing forest areas. According to the Director of Forests and Pastures at the Ministry of Environment, the local units have been tasked to plant two young plants for every cut tree.

According to the Ministry Data, 6000 hectares of new forests have been added in 2011. Funds from the Turkish government have helped building 2 nursery gardens for increasing forest areas.

The Ministry of Environment will start implementing a plan that aims planting 2.5 million new trees each year, same as the population number.
