Hundreds of hectares of forests have been burned down and cut, causing a very large ecological damage.
The Environment Minister, Fatmir Mediu, declared that for the rehabilitation of these areas are needed millions of saplings, most of which the Ministry wants to receive from the Cerrik farm, which has been established with a 500.000 EUR investment donated by the Turkish Agency for Development and Cooperation.
“Our challenge for rehabilitating the degraded terrains and increasing the economic efficiency in order to improve the quality of life demands millions of saplings, the production of which will be made at the farm that we are starting today with the Turkish Agency, which is among the most modern in Europe, and the construction of which demands a 500.000 EUR investment. This is a donation of the Turkish Government. Securing and protecting these investments cannot be realized without the war against illnesses, especially fires, hence this project was followed by two other important initiatives”, Mediu declared.
For the first time in our country, at the Forest Science Faculty will be built the Biological Fight Lab against damaging factors in forests, which are mainly chemicals.
