Albania is about to hear the official decision about the EU candidate
status. The optimism that comes from Brussels is bigger this time, since
the Czech Republic, the country that gave concerning signals through
their media, has joined the other countries that are in favor.

The Albanian Foreign Minister is attending a visit in Israel, but still he has kept his communications with his counterparts of the EU.

During the meetings with the Israeli officials, the Chief of the Albanian diplomacy spoke about the expectancies of Albania for the candidate status, and mentioned Albania’s focus on political and economic cooperation.

At the World Jewish Council and at the Israeli Council for Foreign Relations, they spoke about the close historic ties that unite the Albanian and the Jewish people, which culminate with the collective saving of Jews by Albanians during the Second World War.

“The Jerusalem Post” says on an article about the visit of the Albanian Minister, that Albania is the only European country where Jews were larger in number after the Holocaust than before it.

This was quoted from Bushati’s speech during homage paid at the memorial of the Holocaust victims, together with his guarantee that Albania has never had and will never have antisemitism.

The Jerusalem Post writes that this is the spirit that Albania will transmit at the European Union, where the country expects the decision for the candidate status, a decision that will find our Foreign Minister returning from Israel to Brussels.
