The two day visit of the Albanian Foreign Minister to Greece started
with a reception by the Greek President, Prokopis Pavllopullos.

The Greek President said there are three important points for reinforcing the relations between the two countries, and one of them is Albania’s assistance in managing the emigration flux. For the first time it was articulated that they will be distributed in the region. There were even critics against the phobia of some countries of the region regarding this issue.

Even in this meeting, Greece demanded standards for their minority in Albania. The last point of the demand was that of the cemetery for Greek soldiers who were killed during WWII. The Greek President said that the mutual commission should start working as soon as possible on this.

But for Minister Bushati, the Greek soldier issue is completely related to the WWII chapter. “You rightfully addressed the issue of the cemetery for Greek soldiers and I am hopeful that we and my counterpart, Kotsias, will advance with the abrogation of the War Law between our countries in order to close a historic chapter of WWII”, Bushati said, adding that Albania wants to progress with some historic issues that have not been mentioned in decades.

As for the refugee crisis, the Foreign Minister underlined that xenophobia and solitude are foreign values for Albanians, and that this crisis needs wide cooperation.

When asked by Top Channel when they will remove the War Law, Kotzias said that both countries are not in a state of war, and this is proven by the signing of the Friendship Treaty and by the fact that both countries are NATO members, sharing the same views and cooperation.
