Footnote, SD warns protest

If the Kosovo Delegation will accept in the dialogue with Serbia for
Kosovo to be presented with a footnote in the regional initiatives, in
which is also included the 12-44 resolution, the third Parliamentary
party, Self-Determination Movement, will set the date of a
demonstration.

This was confirmed for Top Channel by Dardan Molliqaj, who says that this is only one of the ways for opposing the Kosovo delegation decision, if they agree.

“It is obligatory to have a popular demonstration in Prishtina for opposing this decision, because we think that the extraordinary session and the street protests are insufficient”, declared Dardan Molliqaj, Organizing Secretary of the Self-Determination Movement.

Molliqaj added that they are reaching an agreement with two other opposition subjects, LDK and AAk, for securing the 40 MP votes needed for summoning an extraordinary Parliamentary session in which they will present a resolution against Kosovo’s footnote representation.

Different to the Self-Determination, the LDK leader, Isa Mustafa, declared that they have made no special arrangements and that it is up to the MPs to decide.

“We will welcome the dialogue and what happens in Brussels, and after that we will decide, based on the power of the votes that were received by the citizens”, Mustafa declared.

The footnote was the focus of Mustafa’s meeting with the British Ambassador in Kosovo, Ian Cliff, who declared that this is a transitory formula, while he invited the political parties to reach an agreement about this.

“We are not asking Kosovo to change its name. But as the United Kingdom, your biggest supporter in the EU, we think that it is our duty to recommend the progress of the EU integration and the political parties should be responsible to reach an agreement for this formula. This is a transitory formula, only a footnote. Normally, we would prefer to not have this, but we must live in a real world, in which five EU countries have not recognized Kosovo’s independence”, the British ambassador declared.

The debate for Kosovo’s regional representation surfaced after the declaration of PM Thaci, who said that the footnote through which Kosovo will be represented in regional initiatives will be within the parameters of the 12-44 resolution of the UN Security Council, the Kosovo’s Independence Declaration and the ICJ opinion.
