“Thursday will show who is in favor and against the justice reform”,
said Knut Fleckenstein, rapporteur of the European Parliament, after
several meeting he had with Albanian politicians, adding that “if
politicians fail, the people should decide in a referendum”.
He reiterated his appeal for compromise and said for Top Channel that he didn’t receive any guarantee during today’s meetings, although he saw some will for solution.
Fleckenstein said that if the justice reform does not pass, it will mean destabilization for the country. As for the interim government, it is up to the Albanian Parliament, according to Fleckenstein.
The international partners have been very clear with their signals, saying that if the justice reform will fails, there will be no positive recommendation this autumn for starting the EU accession negotiations.
