Businessmen of the fish industry in Karaburun asked the Ministry of
Agriculture for support and facilities with the export license, in order
to explore other markets.
After fulfilling the need of the domestic market, they want the possibility to export the albanian fish abroad. But they say that they are facing several bureaucracies from the authorities.
But the Director of Food Safety Policies at the Agriculture Ministry, Gani Moka, explains that these companies need to have establishments before receiving the export permit, a condition set by the European Union to preserve the food quality out of water.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, there are 16 companies that own export permits, and the quantity of fish that is produced by the aquaculture system goes at around 10.000 tons.
Fish producers say that this business requires a special care, because it is exposed to several natural risks. Producers have lost 40 tons of fish after one of the deposit in Karaburun was cracked open due to natural conditions, mounting up to a damage of 49 tons.
