Fiscal amnesty for businesses

The Deputy Minister of Finances, Alfred Rrushaj, says that after the
first three months that appeared to be weak, the amnesty process has
entered a new phase, where the interest is increasing, especially from
individuals.

“Their interest is growing each week. There are around 7000 individuals who have applied for a reassessment of their assets”, Rrushaj declared.

Different to the individuals, the business seems less interested. Rrushaj considers this an exaggerated negligence of the Albanian businesses, and denies that it is due to the fear of further penalizations after the declaration.

“Although not many, a considerable number of businesses have applied and have benefited what the law has recognized from what they have declared”.

What will happen with those who lose the chance to declare their hidden assets? The government says that after the process will be over, the law will be executed with an iron hand and the unpaid obligations will be collected with all fines and interests.

“The measures for collecting the tax and customs revenues through force, especially taxes, have increased significantly in order to guarantee that this amnesty law will be complete, and whoever wants a new page with the administration, must profit from this moment”, declared Mr. Rrushaj.
