Fiscal amnesty failed

Now that the fiscal amnesty deadline is coming to an end, the government
apparently has surrendered and has admitted the failure of this policy,
at least as regards the asset declaration.

“Due to the situation in which this amnesty was held, with the lack of political consensus and among strong political debates, with many objections by the opposition, the law was unable to reach its goal in a maximum scale. In general, the amnesty lighted the businesses and citizens from a series of obligations that had been gathered due to the dynamics that the real estate market had in Albania”, Bode declared.

On the verge of the winter holiday season, Bode declared that the government will bonus the administration employees with 10.000 ALL, but he gave a bad news to the pensioners: they should not wait the bonus payment for this year.

“This is a very special year, and we are unable to make this. We raised pensions throughout the year, while many other countries have reduced pensions due to the crisis. These bonuses will not be available for this year”, Bode declared.

The public finances are facing a difficult time, but Mr. Bode says that the government will not cross the debt limit.

“We will respect the objectives that we have expressed up to now, a deficit of 3%, in order to not cross this deficit and to preserve the debt parameters that we have, without cutting any other expenses”, Bode declared.

The Minister made this declaration at the Albanian Wine Fair that was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture.
