The first mosque ever built in Albania in 1682, the Xhermahala mosque in
Delvina, which is unique for its architecture in the Albanian
territory, is a monument of culture that could be destroyed.
The roof of this object was destroyed around the seventies, and the ornaments of the ceiling disappeared.
“The building offers a lot event today. The atmospheric conditions make a lot of damage, and for this reason we have taken several measures to restore it”, declared Panajot Gunari, director of the Culture Monuments.
Specialists say that Delvina has more than 15 monuments that risk losing their authentic values due to the incapability to restore, conserve and promote them.
