The Cougar helicopter and about 60 members of the Armed Forces have joined the efforts to extinguish the fires that are spreading in an area with pines and bushes, in the Fan and Orosh administrative units of the municipality of Mirdita, in the northeast of Albania.
Along with employees of local structures, firefighting vehicles, the operational forces have concentrated their work on keeping the fire away from the houses in the villages of Xhuxhe, Shengjin and Petoq, of the Fan administrative unit, on the road leading to Shengjin to the west.
Firefighters from the municipalities of Tirana and Kamza are also assisting these forces with their vehicles.
Other forces are working to contain the fires in the other 5 active foci in Kurbin, Kukës, Vlorë, Shkodër and Korçë, where the situation is under control, according to officials.
