Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
A tragedy took place in the Luca family in Shkoder, where a celebration
turned into a tragedy, leaving a 14-year-old girl and her father dead
from a fire in their apartment, while her mother is in critical
conditions.
Police suspects that the fire source might have been a small gas cylinder from the cooking stove. The Luca Family was celebrating Saint John, a holiday for the Dukagjin residents on every December 26th.
Fire-fighters and police rushed to the scene but the fire was fatal for the 14-year-old girl, Silvana Luca, and her 53-year-old father, Dede Luca.
The 43 year old mother Tone Luca was seriously wounded and is under intensive hospital care at the Tirana Military Hospital.
Preliminary investigations show that the leaked gas has caused an explosion and dispersed the fire very quickly in the house.
Another similar accident took place in Elbasan, but fortunately without victims. A senior woman had her low quality gas cylinder explode. Authorities appeal that gas cylinders should only be bought in licensed places, since any defect could cause fatal tragedies.
