Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Besides the fire in Kozel, Erseka, which is still active, a new fire broke up at the Prespa National Park.
The fire appeared yesterday at the Golloborda area. The flames initially burned a five hectare area. The fire might have been caused by a thunderbolt, only 500 meters from the Prespa National Park.
The firefighters say that it is difficult to intervene due to the mountainous terrain. They are unable to build defense lines, due to the rocky mountain.
Police effectives from the Devoll Police District and Forest Service employees are trying to isolate the fire that is threatening the Prespa Park, one of the most important in the country. The total area burned in Erseka is 150 ha. This is the biggest fire recorded this ear in Devoll.
