The political class is using the last hours to decide on the stances
that will be held at the Special Commission for the draft proposed by
the majority experts on the justice reform.
Ilir Meta held a meeting with the Minister of Justice, Ylli Manjani, his predecessor, Nasip Naco, and the head of the Commission of Security, Spartak Braho.
The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, met with the opposition experts regarding the justice reform. Present in this meeting was the Republican Party leader, Fatmir Mediu.
These meetings were held a few hours before the first meeting of the Special Commission for the Justice Reform for this year. Its meeting will be held this Friday morning.
The Special Commission of the Justice Reform will focus on the request of the high-level experts for their draft on constitutional amends to be sent to the Commission of Venice.
The high-level expert draft is the only document that will stand on the table of the commission member, although the media published the draft of the Ministry of Justice, which high-level experts said they have involved in the final variant, together with some of the propositions of this department.
However, this doesn’t conclude the political discussion even within the SMI and SP, two parties of the coalition. The Socialist Party confirmed they will request to send the draft to Venice, and the political discussion will start only after the answer of this organization.
The SMI will meet tomorrow to decide on their stance for the final draft of experts. There is no official confirmation yet about their vote for the final draft in Venice, a vote that is decisive for the majority at the Special Commission, due to the equal composure.
It seems that this has also been the case discussed in the long meetings between Prime Minister Rama and Parliament Speaker Meta, even this Thursday. After these meetings, when asked by Top Chanenl if the SMI will vote in favor, sources answered with “I think yes”.
The decisive vote of the SMI seems to have been the purpose of the meeting between the EU ambassador, Romana Vlahutin, with Ilir Meta and then Edi Rama. The US Ambassador has also had a phone conversation with the SMI leader.
The expectancy of the Socialist Party is that the draft will receive the OK of the Commission this Friday and the stances will be debated after the Venice experts have arrived in Tirana on December 21st and 22nd.
Despite the stances between the majority, the opposition has taken its decision. Lulzim basha stood to the declaration that the Democratic Party will not take any new draft to Venice, since they refuse to be part of the masked ball of Edi Rama, when their duty was to send a consensual draft.
The Democratic Party will inform the Venice Commission through a letter that will explain the stance of the opposition and why the draft that will go to Venice does not have their consensus, and how the government is trying to capture the justice system.
These stances will be public during the meeting of the special parliamentary commission for the Justice Reform.
