The Fier residents who were damaged by the Gjanica floods protested in
front of the Municipality, asking the authorities to resolve their
problem.
Gjanica floods houses each year. The families asked the local authorities to stop making promises and start realizing an investment that will prevent other floods.
The recent floods caused by Gjanica damaged hundreds of houses and shops, with damages mounting up to dozens of millions of ALL. Residents were isolated by the water that goes up to two meters.
Gjanica floods the surrounding areas three to four times each year, due to the rains and the riverbed that is not regulated. The riverbed has not been cleaned from urban inert materials for several years.
