The former Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs, Ferdinand Poni, passed
away this Saturday, at 49, after a cardiac arrest in Prizren.
Poni’s unexpected death was announced by his friend, who was in the same bar with him. The former Head of the Tirana District, Tasim Mema, declared that Poni died at around 14:30.
Ferdinand Poni is an important figure for the Democratic Party. Since 1990, he has served in a series of functions. From 1993 to 1995 he was an aid of the Prime Minister for the local administration.
From 1995 to 1997, Poni worked as General Director of the Local Administration Directory at the Interior Ministry, and then as Deputy Minister of Interior.
After the June 23rd elections, he was engaged as head of the right centered councillors at the Tirana Municipality.
