Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Fatmir Limaj was found innocent and released of all charges. As
expected, the Pristine Court found innocent the Kosovo MP, Fatmir Limaj,
and three other army officers, Nexhmi Krasniqi, Naser Shala and Naser
Krasniqi.
The leader of the Kosovo Democratic Party, one of the best known former commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, also known as “Steel”, qwas accused of ordering inhuman tortures of Serbian civilians that were imprisoned in the Klecka village, Lipjan, in 1999. He was accused of war crimes against civil population and war prisoners, including murder. The Italian Prosecutor, Maurizio Salustro, declared that he will appeal the decision.
The Court excluded from the witness list the declaration of Agim Zogaj, also known as Witness X, on whom most of the Prosecution evidence was based. This is the second time that Limaj is declared innocent for war crimes. He was tried and declared innocent by the Hague Court for war crimes in Llapushnik.
