Farewell to Roland Trebicka

The death of the Albanian actor, Roland Trebicka, was unexpected and
hard for everyone who arrived today at the National Theatre to pay the
last homage.

Many of the friends and colleagues expressed their deep regret for the loss of the man who left deep prints in the memory of every Albanian, with iconic roles such as that of Jovan Bregu in “Pallati 176”, or Nesti at “Koncert ne Vitin 36”.

Trebicka will remain an icon of the Albanian theatre, as one of the best figures of an entire generation.

Despite the fight against a severe disease, Trebicka did not abandon his passion for acting. E few weeks ago he played Seit Beu at the National Theater, in “Endrra e Ismail Qemalit”.

Born in Korce, 1947, Trebicka started his career with the movie “Debatik”, in 1961.

He continued his work at the National Theatre for three decades.

His most important roles are Xhenarino, “Magjia e Madhe”; Zganareli, “Don Juan”; The Patient, “Everyone has vices”, “8 Persona Plus” and “Valsi i Titanikut”.

His most famous roles in movies are Vaska, “Enderr Per Nje Karrige”, “Karnavalet e Korces” and Nesti at “Koncert ne Vitin 1936”.

His sense of humour, ability to improvise, discipline and dedication turned Trebicka into one of the mostly renowned actors in the Albanian scene, but also a very lovable figure for the public.

His role in “Pallati 1976” is the most famous among the Albanians, with many of his lines that are used even today among the population.

Politicians pay homage to Trebicka

Famous Albanian politicians expressed their condolences for the loss of one of the most beloved artists of the Albanian public.

The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, declared that Trebicka has made a great service to the country with the art that he left behind.

Prime MInister Berisha considered him a real icon of art that will be still alive through his characters.

The opposition leader, Edi Rama, declared that Trebicka leaves an irreplaceable gap in the Albanian theatre.

The Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, declared that Trebicka was a man of great talent who stays immortal through his humour.

The Minister of Culture, Aldo Bumci, expressed his condolences by saying that there is no greater fortune for a man than having his name remembered with a smile.
