Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The mother and two sisters of Denis Almadhi, the 11-year-old child that
died during an operation at the oculist clinical two days ago are
accusing the doctors for this loss.
They say that they were not warned about any danger before the operation and the doctors even hid that Denis had died for several hours.
“If they would have said that there was a 1% danger… but they spoke about a 100% success”, declared the sister of the victim.
“The doctors shouldn’t have taken any chances. This destroyed us”, the mother said.
To the doctors’ claims for a rare complication that caused the death, the relatives say that it is an answer that sounds like it could be logical, but there is no medical explanation from them, and that the child had had the same operation when six.
“My son was operated even before. When they say that this is inherited, why didn’t this happen the first time? Why the hospital didn’t have the necessary medicine”, the mother of the child says for the camera.
The Prosecution has taken the case after the report made at the police, but the relatives say that the Irish doctors were trying to transfer the victim’s body for hiding the fact that he died in the OR.
“He died on the operation room and they removed the body for saying that he died at the ER. It doesn’t matter. Even if I kill the doctors, my son will not return and I have nothing to win. My soul has gone”, says the mother.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister reacted from Shkoder saying that the case will be investigated. He said that according to the information he had, this is a rare case of malign hypothermia that happens rarely, caused by a reaction of the anaesthetic substance, but that is difficult to get cured.
The family also accused the hospital of not having a medicine that would have saved the child, but hospital and the association of the Albanian Anaesthetic Doctors said that malign hyperthermia is very rare and very fatal, and there is no medicament to stop it.
The family also accused the hospital for the fact that they were informed six hours after the child had died and that the hospital did not have the medicine that would had decreased the body temperature. The police has started the initial investigations while they’re waiting for the forensic report.
